Information on POWTS
The authority to regulate Private Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems (POWTS) comes from the Wisconsin Administrative Code. These regulations are met through local counties before work can be done.
POWTS come in many varieties but they have some common elements. Generally, water runs down gradient from the residence into a septic tank and is then dispersed into the treatment/disposal area.
